We sell farms, not tomatoes

At UrbanFarmers, we develop farm systems for the city. We don’t sell tomatoes, but with our systems, you can.

Our rooftop farm and bolt-on system solutions are designed for supermarkets and commercial growers. We are a B2B company and do not deliver directly to end-customers.

Business Model

The UF business model covers the full spectrum from design, development, operations and sales of urban farms.

  • Development and financing covers the project development from the initial feasibility study to permitting and supplier selection to structuring the contractual framework until ready-to-construct. Similar to infrastructure projects in the renewable energy space, UF structures loan financing for projects that are collateralized by a long-term produce purchase agreements (LPPA’s) with grocery retail customers.

  • Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services are assumed by UF but with larger projects it is either completely or partly outsourced where feasible.

  • Recurring revenues through operations, maintenance and sales services start after commission of the project. Sales services includes specifically the offtake of the capacity of the rooftop or bolt-on by UF’s key account retail customers.
  • In the foreseeable future, UF will give out master licenses for specific regions and/or customer segments to capable project developers – currently licensees are in discussion in the GCC region.
